Now I sit me down in school-Where praying is against the rule-For this great nation under God-Finds mention of him very odd-If scripture now the class recites-It violates the Bill of Rights-And anytime my head I bow-Becomes a Federal matter now-Our hair can be purple, orange,or green-That's no offense, it's a freedom scene-The law is specific, the law is precise-Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall, might offend someone with no faith at all-In silence alone we must meditate,God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks-And pierce our noses, toungs and cheeks-They've outlawed guns, but first the Bible-To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, and the 'unwed daddy' our Senior King. It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong-We're taught that such "judgements" do not belong. We can get condoms and birth controll,Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles. but the 10 Commandments, not allowed
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
This has been going around the Net but I don't believe this is the forum for it-even though it is true and very sad. It is very apparent that when a country turns it's back on GOd things tend to go downhill-God will not bless America with their attitude toward Him
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
thats very true. i think that shows how screwed up our society is.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
What's sad is your blatant manipulation of this system to post this thing.
For the record, I'm an evangelical christian.

New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?

New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?

New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
America-we're going down
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Students can pray to whatever god they want in public schools. It's just that the school ought not to sponsor a specific faith because it's funded by tax dollars.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
What is sad is the fact that you Christians don't have a problem promoting your religion within the government, but if I were to promote mine in the Pledge of Allegiance and say "There is no god", you would all go apeshit. What is sad is the fact that you hypocritical morons can't see the difference. You are not more important than those who believe differently than you. I am not more important those who believe differently than me. From these answers, I think I might be quite a bit smarter, but not more important. Our government can not promote one religion over another. When will you hypocrites realize this?
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
that's true and sad.... that's a good poem by the way....
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
It's vanity to force religious views on others. There are way too many religions to allow time in school for each. Shouldn't the law be good enough? I agree kids need more morals. Buts that's the parents and the Church's/ religious paths place, not so much the schools. BB Sdw
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Nobody is keeping anyone from learning about Christianity, but it should be a personal thing. There are many people of different cultures and beliefs who live here. Why do people feel like they have to make public displays? Is that the only way you can feel like a Christian? If your relationship with God was firm, you wouldn't worry about what is allowed in a public forum.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
wow now thats impressive, and right on point. We need to bring prayer back to school
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Has it ever occurred to you that there might be a reason that we have separation of church and state here? Do you really think that it's just to keep Christians down?
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
You are absolutely freaken ridiculous. You are allowed all those freedoms and you are allowed to pray whenever you want. The public schools just aren't allowed to lead or support any organized prayer. If you really want prayer in school then you would have to allow everyone of every faith a chance to publicly pray their own prayer. That would take all day.
That is a very dangerous thing when the government supports a particular religion. That is the start of something very bad that we don't need.
One nation, indivisible
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Back in the 1940's the problems in schools were these
1. running in the hall
2. tardiness
3. spit balls
What has happened to schools today and people?
I wish we could go back to our christian heritage like it was back then
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Time is short, for the good book talk about these time when good call evil and evil call good.
Stand on the word of God Jesus the Christ.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Let's get our history straight:
The Pilgrims did not leave England for the purpose of finding a place in which they could practice their religion.
They left England to find a place where they could not be forced to engage in religious practices that they didn't approve of.
Christians are "under God." America is not and never has been. That's why that phrase should never have been inserted into the Pledge.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
I nominate this for bullshit post of the day. Its fundies like this that make everyone else look a lot smarter.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Schools(except for parochial ones) are Public and must cater to ALL religions and lifestyles. No one is saying that you can't pray. If you do, do it in private. After all, I believe the Sermon on the Mount says that prayer should not be a public spectacle. This poem is very prejudicial and hypocritical. You want our freedom to pray and read the Bible respected but you want to ostracize Wiccans, American Indians, pregnant teenagers, and lots of other groups.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
whats sad is that you probably don't want an answer
Countries that have a state religion or state run religion
Iran Libya Cuba Former soviet Union ect ect
the bill of rights protects religion it protects people from people like you and from people in Afghanistan for example where being christian is crime punishable by death.
If you don't Like your country move. I love America we are one of the most religious countries on earth because the Bill of rites protects Religion.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Prayer is not against the school rules. I prayed in school all the time. It's only against the rules if I try to force others to pray with me or if a teacher or school administrator leads the prayer.
I am a Hindu now, but when I was in high school I was allowed to carry my Bible with me...and so were other students. No one took it away from us. We were allowed to pray together if we asked each other politely if we wanted to pray together (so long as we did not disrupt class...so that meant praying between classes in the hall) and we were allowed to pray over our food, etc. Religious groups were allowed to be formed along with other student groups so long as 1) students organized the group 2)produced all 3)the materials for the group 4) arranaged meetings, and 4)maintain order in the groups. We also had to have a teacher sponsor (all that meant was that before or after school hours we were allowed to use their classroom). My rural school was small, but there was a few religious clubs (not all Christian...I enjoyed spending time with the kids from other religions, too) along with other student groups. All groups were treated equally under school policies. There was a bulletin board for students to post messages and student groups were to use this bulletin. We had to make sure that we did not say anything that was offensive to other students in our postings. And we couldn't actually have "unnatural colored hair" since this was seen as a distraction in the learning process. You also couldn't wear hats in the building and there was a dress code. You could wear shorts until October 31, after that shorts were not to be worn until March 31 (Nov 1 - Apr 1 is usually fairly cold and rainy in Oklahoma, in general). Students didn't have a problem with this. No piercings were allowed to be seen except those in the ears (this came after someone got hurt in a fight and one of the piercings on their eyebrow was ripped out), no chains on the wallets (again this was only after someone tried choking another student with the chain that it was banned). Our lockers could be decorated anyway we wanted, so long as at the end of the school year the stuff we put on it could come off (so no stickers, but we could put posters, flyers on the outside of the locker). In general, students were very respectful to each other and to teachers and teachers were always available for listening to students. Maybe it's because it was a small school, maybe because it was in Oklahoma. I don't know, but I sure hear an awful lot of older adults talk about how "horrible" todays schools are, I'd hear it when I went to school every day. I'm 27 and graduated back in 1998. Even then there were all these horrible things being said about how bad schools were since prayer had been taken out. Yet this didn't sound like the school I went to every day.
When I have children I do plan to raise them as Hindus. I only hope that my children will be able to go to a school enviroment like I was able to where they can pray the Hindu prayers with others that might want to between classes, can bring the Bhagavad Gita to read when they finish assignments, and overall a place that is respectful and tolerant.
New Pledge of Allegiance...Sad but True.?
Wow, you really thought that poem out. Too bad its so misdirected. Why not go to a CHristian school where you'd feel more at home. Public school is for people of all faiths. To favor yours is unconstitutional. That protects you too. I'm sure they don't teach witchcraft at your school. But if they did, you could call the ACLU, because they are favoring one religion over another. IT is inappropriate for a school to be giving lessons in morals. That should be taught at home.
I'm glad you can get condoms and birth control. Many children your age are sexualy active and not ready to support a family.
As for the purple hair, I was Christian when I was in high school and I had my hair bright green to match my eyes. I don't see a problem with that. Its self expression and should be encouraged. I think you should find yourself a nice Christian school where you won't be bothered by all this.
