It's acceptable if you're comfortable with wearing it. Personally, I'm at the stage of life where I am comfortable doing my own thing and I'm a little bit past the age of 39. I don't care what other people are doing or what they think about what I'm doing. If you consider yourself to be a leader and not a follower, then have confidence in yourself and the decisions you make, and stop worrying about what other people think about you. People are always going to find reasons to criticize and judge what others do, as you've already experienced in some of the post here, even if you licked every behind in the world to please them, simply because they are not secure in themselves and their life choices. So why not please yourself and do your own thing. It's the only way you will insure your own happiness and security in the choices you make for your life. Ribbons and all.

It depends on how tasteful you're being. If your hair is tied back stylishly, sure. Maybe instead of using a monster clip you have a big bow clip. However, if you're at Dollarama buying the bow clips and wearing 30 in your hair a la kindergarten then it's completely unacceptable. You'll look like your grandmother dressed you.

I think it is fine. I don't know why it is childish. I think it is very feminine. Women used to wear ribbons and bows a lot. I guess it went out of style.
