Bows in dogs hair?

How do owners of Chihauaha's, Papillons, and small short on top of head haired dogs put bows in their hair? My pap has a little hair on top but not enough for elastic bands or anything. Just curious if anyone had any creative idea for this.

It might be tape.Ask at a pet store,I'm sure they have all kinds of bows and ribbons for all kinds of hair.

Your Papillon might have enough hair for the type of bows they use for newborns. They are Velcro, and are small enough to just grab a tiny pit of hair. (Warning, this might be a safety hazard if your dog tries to eat it.)

ADD:But wait! You don't want to humiliate your dog! You had better ask her permission, first. (Eyes rolling....)

Good for you! I'm so happy to hear that you are doing what you can to cheer up people in need! You are a hero.

i think hair groomers do it

Dogs survived without hairdos for a long time. If it's bothering their sight, or getting in their mouth, cut it.

barrettes or bobby pins

put one in your hair instead

Your local groomer can assist you with that.

try clip on ones, like that have a barette on the bottom. i think elastics would pull at their hair and hurt them. or maybe there are stick on ones. goodluck

Bows in dogs hair?

get like the ones they use on babies that have the band that goes all the way around the head..

I hope this helps..

I have a Chihauahua..

Therapy dogs, even though they're trained to be friendly etc, don't really think the clothes they're wearing are making them so cute. Dogs do NOT have that mentality, and I can't believe there are people who believe so. If a dog is getting attention, they're happy because THEY are getting the attention, not the clothes, or because of the clothes. Dogs have really thick skin and tough fur already, and I don't think they need another layer of cotton unless it's like -35oF outside.

A groomer should be able to help show you how to put them in the hair safely. We show people all the time. Make sure you call ahead to make sure the groomer can help you.

If there is any length to the hair at all, try bows made for newborn baby girls. They have a two piece velcro dot on the back and you put the hair between the dots.

My dog has just a little bit of hair on top, so I also had this challenge.I tried regular elastic bands that didn't work. Now I use Goody brand elastic bands from the hair isle at Wal- mart. ( I have also bought them at Target.) They are teeny tiny and don't pull her hair. They are difficult to work with at first, but you'll be an expert in no time! Unfortunately, I have only found them in a variety pack, so you have to buy some that you don't need. Anyways, I put one in her hair, just to hold tight, then put a cuter barrette or bow over it. About the clothes situation, I know it sounds silly, but my dog loves getting new clothes and prances around like she is the hottest chick in town. She gets cold in any weather under 75 degrees, so I don't blame you, sister, about putting clothes on your dog. Take care of him the best way you know how!!
