Perspective on the problems in public schools today.?

This is not original to me, but I don't know who to credit it to. It's called, the New School Prayer.

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of him very odd.

If scripture now the class recites

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense;its the freedom scene..

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prihibited by the State.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the unwed daddy our Senior King.

It's inappropriate to teach right from wrong

We're taught such

Perspective on the problems in public schools today.?

As a Bible Believing Born Again Christian, the answer is simple and coming from my observations.

When someone stands up against Christianity or Christian beliefs, most Christians tend to believe God will not allow Himself to be silenced. Someone doesn't want to have in God we trust on money, Under God in the pledge, or the Ten Commandments in public offices, Christians cower and allow their rights to be deminished one by one.

Side note, to some people money is their god and money is what they trust, so what is so wrong with the statement "In God we trust".

However, when someone wants to challenge Christianity, they can stand up and claim religious rights when it is actually the Christian rights that are being taken away and deminished. Why? We (Christians in general) don't want to offend someone. We don't want to be judgemental. Oh no. Well, why not? The others don't worry about offending me/us. Read some of the comments to the question. Do you think the negative ninnies cared if they created offence?

Do you know that right now American legislature wants to pass a law that, in effect, when a minister tells his congregation, "a bill is going to be voted on to become law and this is against our beliefs because....." , he would need to report to the government what he said and to whom. He would have to list his entire present congregation. Helllllloooooo. Don't you think this is going to silence Christian radio, television, mega churches? Yet, it could happen.

If Christians were to stand up and get a backbone, stop worrying what others might think, and use the power that the Living God has given us, things would change. The Bible says we are not to be afraid, but to speak with power and authority. The smallest amount of doubt can weaken, but Jesus endured his suffering for us. Yes, we will be persecuted. Take it. 100 years on this planet is nothing compared to the eternal blessing received through Jesus Christ. Also, don't you think the one soul whose attention you may get and lead to Christ is worth it?

Abe Lincoln said "what is in our schoolroom for one generation will be in the government for the next generation." (that is not exact quote, but makes the same point). It is disgusting Christians shrugged their shoulders at what Bill Clinton was doing. If an action is wrong, it is wrong. Don't dismiss it and don't question God's word.

What is wrong with the Ten Commandments anyway? The only thing I can see is that a nonbeliever might not like is "Though shalt not use the name of the Lord thy God in vain". People like to say "Oh, my ..." or "God....". They may not understand it, but ther is power in that name and in the name of Jesus Christ. That is why they use it. They know there is power there, but know nothing about it.

Truth is, persecution is going to build and build until Christianity is underground completely. How do you boil a frog? Slowly turn up the heat. Heat is building for the Christian. The United States isn't even a Christian Nation anymore. However, I know the future....GOD WINS!

I had seen this school prayer on the internet and it has always been my favorite..As a mother of school children, every word of this school prayer is so true...Thank's for putting this on this site for people to see.maybe they will think the same as we do..Well Done..!!!!

Perspective on the problems in public schools today.?

Actually, it's not true that prayer is not allowed in school.

I have always loved this poem, both as a ps student; than a ps teacher; and now a homeschooling mom. I've seen what happens in school first hand, and my daughter is not going back; nor will my sons ever attend! When she came home at 7 years old asking about oral sex, we pulled her out immediately. And no, this wasn't picked up on the school bus, but in her MATH CLASS! (teacher confirmed)

I teach my children biblical values, but for daring to obey her parents (oh, how dreadful), my child was ridiculed by her classmates and I was reprimanded by her teacher and principal. My crime - keeping my daughter home from school when a speaker on mysticism would be there. Our kids can practice "magic", but can't quote a Bible verse. Definitely something wrong with our nation's public school system.

What else can we add, we truly reap what we sow.

2 Timothy 3:12

Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. (NLT)

As I have told some of our friends who are teachers, "I know you are trying to do a good job, however the very principles that this country was founded on, are now taboo to teach to it's citizens", and we wonder why we have the mess we have today?

Everything that was once "sinful", and socially unacceptable, now is accepted in the name of tolerance; tolerance has replaced the basic moral code, but for heavens sake where is the tolerance when we want to mention Jesus?

Thank you for posting this, I am going to copy it for future use; if you do find the author post his/her name for us, so credit can be given to him/her.

I am not sure if the book is even still in print, but if anyone would like to read a pretty good book try:

Whatever Became Of Sin; by Karl Menninger, MD

ISBN 0-8015-8554-6

I believe the last printing to have been in 1976.

This is so true. I remember being picked on because I chose to pray during the moment of silence in school, which by the way has been removed. Prayer in school is allowed, but heavily frowned on and discouraged. I pulled my daughter out in 2nd grade when the teacher held her from recess for a solid month without speaking to us, and I volunteered at the school , this was how I eventually found out. OUr school systems have really gone downhill, and these kids will one day be adults and leaders in our country. The morals and ethics our country was built upon have vanished and premarital sex, drugs, alcohol and vulgarity have replaced them. Kids cannot tell you their multiplication tables but can tell you all about sex. I am wondering when America will wake up and see what it has done to itself?

The biggest issue has no boundaries, secular or religious.

Go look at the California and New York test scores.

10% of the student body is above the 70% level 40% is in the 40-70% level and 50% is below the 40% level.

70%, of course is D work. 60% of the students are FAILING

That is the biggest issue and PRARYERS aren't going to make them pass.

I'm not sure what will.

Homeschool is the best alternative.

But homeschool certainly can't do worse!

well you are a crazy person.
