Is this the New "School Prayer"? Do you want to Change it?

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,

We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen !

The poem is funny, and does show the truth, albeit not actually. There is one answer on here where the person just nitpicks this to death. Get a life, either you enjoyed the poem and think it's funny, or you don't. Get off your high horse, and just say so. The classroom is a hodgepodge of different viewpoints all clamoring for attention, but the fact is Christianity is the one that is being trampled.

Halloween is allowed, although it is a pagan holiday, based on a religion.

Easter can't be celebrated in the classroom, it's now Spring Break, but you can still look for the fertility religions in collecting eggs and the bunny.

Wiccan is promoted in the schools by various teachers and districts, but not Christianity.

And of course, Christmas, which just means night of Christ, or his birthday, is not allowed. It's called Winter Break, and you can't celebrate Christmas, but Ramaddan or Kwanzaa can be, even Hanukkah can be celebrated.

And speaking about those firearms, they are abolished in most schools, even by people with gun permits. Some schools have even stopped police officers in California from possessing firearms on school grounds.

There is no such thing as responsibility in the schools any more, except where the school tries to say they have control of your child in all things related to education. Even when that means hiding from the parents what is being taught, and teaching things which are not, and were never meant to be discussed or taught in school.

I believe socialism is the correct word for today's education, because the educators believe they have all the answers, and won't allow what a child is taught at home, to interfere with their indoctrination into taboo areas of immoral thought.

Good news around the corner though, as most of these precepts are being challenged in the courts, and we may see a return to fundamental values. Also, because of Virgina Tech, some schools are starting to see that if some students had weapons legally, then this bloodbath, and others, might be prevented in the future. They could have stopped the madman before it got out of hand.

One nation under God was added in the mid-20th century; however, In God We Trust has been around since the Civil War and Lincoln's administration.

Is this the New "School Prayer"? Do you want to Change it?

Oh and P.S. Outlaw: Cowboy Christian didn't write the poem, just posted it. So editing it? Probably not his job. Report It

Is this the New "School Prayer"? Do you want to Change it?

Very nice poem;it gave me a laugh:-)

Nice poem

But a very sad reality of this world we live in:-)

Is this the New "School Prayer"? Do you want to Change it?

Yes...change it to include all religions, not just christianity.

"For this great nation under the Gods..."

"Finds mention of Them very odd..."

"If Rituals now the class recites..."

"The Gods names are prohibited by the state..."

"They've outlawed guns...but FIRST our religion..."

"We can study xian mythology and other false beliefs..."

"But Wicca ritual and prayer is not allowed..."

I think you get my point. If I edited your whole poem, I'd fill up half this page.

Make the poem for all religions, not just for one. Because there are Pagan children now too.

Is this the New "School Prayer"? Do you want to Change it?

Praying IS allowed in school - forcing unwilling people to pray is *not*.

And this nation is not under God - that phrase was added in the late 20th century.

If you want to propagate a new school prayer I suggest that you shorten it considerably in order that people will read it.

Is this the New "School Prayer"? Do you want to Change it?

Actually, there's nothing new about that. It's been around for a while. I don't recall where it first started, but, nevertheless, it's been around. I disagree with the thoughts actually. Praying isn't against the rules. A teacher or a school forcing prayer upon students or a teacher endorsing a religion over another is. That is the problem. A student praying on his or her own isn't the problem. The "nation under God" is something that is deciving. The phrase "one nation, under God" was added to the Pledge in the 1950s. It wasn't something that was original. It was added by a president. It's not something this "nation" stood for from the beginning. There is nothing against scripture about someone's hair being purple or orange or green. It should NEVER be an issue in the classroom. This idea that a hair color is going to be a problem is silly. Saying "Oh, we can't have school prayer, but we can have green hair" just are two very opposite arguments. It also isn't that accurate. There are MANY schools that ban odd colors stating that it is an interruption of the learning process. In silence and alone is what God asks us to do in scripture. Our prayers shouldn't be a public thing anyway. Doesn't scripture say for us to pray in secret to our Father who is also in secret. We aren't suppose to be shouting our prayers from the rooftops to scream "Look at me!!" It's about our private words to God. In fact, I wouldn't WANT anyone to hear what I talk about with God. It's a very personal thing. Also, again the whole dress code idea is a silly argument against prayer in school. They are two different things. Again, the dressing and piercing argument is off. Many school do not allow students to have facial piercings. A child that gets one under the age of 18 MUST have parental consent to get it anyway. You cannot do that under 18 and sometimes not even under 21. Many schools have gone to uniforms and do not allow someone to dress in a manner that will "disrupt the learning process". Again, this is not accurate! Next, no one has outlawed guns. And, last time I checked, this isn't something that is promised by scripture at all. It shouldn't be a problem to elect someone that is a teen father or a teen mother to anything. Kids make mistakes!! Christ wouldn't throw them to the lions. We shouldn't either -- not as a nation and not as Christian people either. People like that are the very ones that need the most love. Teaching right and wrong shouldn't be in school. It should be something that parents do. Schools aren't parents and we are trying to make them into that. I don't know any school that teaches witchcraft unless it is in a book that is fiction. Someone has the right to refuse to read whatever that want. If a parent doesn't like what a school is teaching, they can go to another school. Oh, and another them, totem poles show the family lines of Native American families. They are NOT worshipped or some silly idol. They are showing genaologies. Try again. This thing is just inaccurate and silly.

Amen Brother ! Because of One we fell Into Sin: Adam. Because of One prayer was removed from the public school system : A Woman did this !

The power of one Is Greater than we know. Because God has been removed from almost everything. Why do you think the twin towers were destroyed. God Is sending a wake up call to everyone. The strange thing Is after that church attendance jumped to huge numbers. Then slowly dwindeled down. God Will Not Be Mocked. People wonder why God let some of these things happen ?? You wouldn't let HIM In......Repent,The Kingdom Of God Is At Hand...
