Male dog Bows?

I don't wanna sound stupid but I am getting a maltipoo in a couple of weeks is it ok since HE is a such a Cutesy type dog and not a big manly dog to bows in his hair.

I have a male Bichon and he wears hair bows all the time. He looks so cute when he wears his bows. Putting bows in his hair makes owning a small dog so much fun. Dogs are not like people, they do not follow any gender rules. Dogs cannot recognize their self in the mirror, so they don't care how they look. As long as you are comfortable with putting bows in your dog's hair then do it. Of course some people will give you some weird looks because they do not believe in dressing up their dogs in bows or cute outfits.

Up to you, but dogs - even if they are a "cutesy-type" - are still dogs, not little humans. They don't like to be dressed up. You can cause a dog to have all sorts behavioral problems if you try to treat them like a little person. Watch "the Dog Whisperer" on National Geo channel. Many of the dogs he works with are little ones that their owners treated them like kids.

Yeah, if you want all the other dogs in the neighborhood to kick his furry little @$$. Please don't put bows in your male dogs fur, or "hair". It's just not nice, go out and buy him a spiked collar and a demin doggy jacket, it will be cuter to have your cutesy dog dressed like a bad-@$$ than to make him wear bows.

The fact that dogs aren't people is a viable point. It is very important to realize that dogs should be treated like dogs. As far as putting bows in their hair, they really don't know the difference nor do they care. A great many male show dogs with long coats have bows in their hair whenever they aren't in the ring to keep the hair from matting but they don't mind.

If the dog cares at all, it would just be because he doesn't want to be dressed up and the bows annoyed him.

Dogs don't have the same issues as people do when it comes to "girl things" and "boy things".

They follow instincts to know what sex another dog is. I highly doubt the other boy dogs in the neighborhood will be pointing and whispering at your "gay" dog.

And who cares if anybody thinks it's a girl. That's not even important. You(general you) wouldn't get upset if people assumed that your german shepherd was a husky. Well, you would if you were an uptight weirdo.

I wish I had a dog. I would ask MaggieP because she knows a lot. But I was wondering, on a farm, where do the dogs go to the bathroom? Because I spent time on a farm with lots of dogs running all around and I never once saw any mess.

It's YOUR dog and you don't need permission from ANYONE to put a bow on your MALE dog.

In the show ring, males and females, of certain breeds, WEAR hair bows to pull the hair up and out of their eyes.

Just make SURE you don't pull the hair too tight, and only leave it in for a little while at a time.

I KNOW it's a mixed breed puppy. I answered one of your other questions. I don't agree with paying for one. (I don't agree with breeding mixed breeds on purpose..) But, that's YOUR choice and if you want the puppy, just please keep the puppy safe and away from your toddler.
